With a name like “Beer Town USA” a good nightlife scene is a shoe-in. Bend, Ore. has a population of 82,000, and has 11 breweries, so there’s certainly no shortage of craft brews to go around. The actual Mt. Bachelor nightlife doesn’t extend past après-ski, so Bend is where you want to be. You’ll also find Bend is home to an exceptional live music scene. And for the ultimate winter nightlife exploits, head out on a guided moonlit snowshoe tour or bonfire adventure, which include hot adult beverages.
Of course a round or two at Deschutes Brewery is in order. Located on Simpson Avenue, you won’t want to miss sipping on one of their famed brews, Mirror Pond Pale Ale or Black Butte Porter are among the brewery’s most popular. Stop in at Bend Brewing Company, which has been around for almost as long as Deschutes, for a couple of their handcrafted drafts. Cascade Lakes Lodge is another top Bend bar and brewery, boasting a stacked tap, from IPA to brown ale, summer ale, pilsner, golden ale and some unique small batch brews.
If you’ve had your fill of beer, don’t worry there are plenty of Bend bars that serve up big-city martinis and mixology cocktails, specifically Velvet, on Wall Street, and Level 2 Bend Restaurant and Cocktail Lounge, on Powerhouse Drive.
If you’re on the hunt for live music the Summit Saloon and Stage will appease those who like to cut up a rug or sip on cocktail and listen to acoustic guitar. Horned Hand on Colorado Avenue is the place to go. This locals music venues offers guests the opportunity to enjoy and mingle with Bend’s finest musicians and DJs.
When the day is done and you’ve clicked off your skis or unstrapped from your board, satisfied with all the Mt. Bachelor terrain you just conquered, you probably have a hankering for a cold beer. Head to Clearing Rock Bar aka “The Rock” in West Village Lodge for a Deschutes Brewery or Bend Brewing Company beer.
